Coach Jan Kader has been teaching children chess for more than 15 years in public schools and private family groups. With a M.S. in Child Psychology, he uses his understanding of how kids learn and think to make chess engaging, accessible, and confidence-building. His approach helps young players strengthen focus, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking—key benefits that extend well beyond the chessboard.

Coach Justin has tutored elementary through graduate level math, and instructed college physics and astronomy courses since 2012 and holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics. As an Orinda native and graduate of Wagner Ranch Chess Club, Coach Justin is a lifelong chess player eager to inspire the next generation to achieve academic success through chess!
